While on a backpacking trip in Yosemite, our guide brought us to one of the most dramatic overlooks in the Valley. At 2 in the morning, as the moon began to rise over the left shoulder of the Dome, I went for a photo walk to warm up a bit on this unexpectedly chilly night. The constant light breeze pushed out the clouds that had loomed overhead at sunset and offered up a starry blanket fading into a bright glow on the horizon.
